Walnut Capital is filled with an extremely personable staff that is always willing to serve you. Whenever there is a question, concern or problem, I am met with a resolution in a timely manner. I highly recommend living with Walnut Capital. I am very satisfied with my decision.
I would give 4.5 stars if I could, b cause I'm overall pretty happy here. There have been some issues with the water and maintenance requests, but the management is pretty responsive and considerate. The apartment is bigger than I thought I could get at this price point, so there's plenty of space. They have a few events for residents occasionally - food trucks or holiday parties - and that's a fun little nod towards resident appreciation. It's overall pretty nice.
The maintenance guys in the building are nice but the management company is run by a group of scammers! When we signed the contract we told them we will only stay for 5 months and they acknowledged that. Then when we move out, they want to charge us for another months’ rent, because we didn’t give them a 90 day notice. This is totally nonsense. The contract states that we need to give a 90 day notice OR the contract reaches termination date. And the contract has a termination date of Jan 6. This is nothing but a scam to the students. Also we have asked a few other people in the apartment who lived here for a longer period of time and their contract didn’t have this 90 day notice thing. So this is probably a new trick that they just implemented. Anyway just avoid renting this place and find some honest landlords!
We love our apartment in Shadyside, set in a great location right off of Walnut Street, and a short walk to multiple bus stops. The apartment itself is in good condition, with regular maintenance done and utility repairs are made in a timely manner. The Walnut Capital team responds in a timely manner to questions, though be sure to ask clarifying questions about setting up utilities when moving in, as most of them are through a third party. Rent can be high depending on the area, just FYI.
The best part of living here is easily Bill, who works in maintenance. I've made a few maintenance requests over about 9 months now, and at least 3 times now he's been there the same day and fixes the issue. Great guy.
The individuals I have interacted with, both in maintenance or in leasing, have all been very helpful. As a company, I have not had any issues with Walnut Capital, which is as good as it gets I guess.
My wife and I have been residents at Beacon Commons since 2008 and have, in general, been very happy with our choice to settle here. We feel that this neighborhood is the best in Pittsburgh. Living here we are right in the heart of it and can walk to everything the neighborhood has to offer. The Walnut Capital folks have been great, particularly the support staff, but we've had very few issues that required us to call for repairs or assistance. The townhouse is in very good shape. The renovations that were done when Walnut Capital took over, particularly the new windows, help to make the utilities very affordable so that's a real plus. We wish the carpet had been replaced before we moved in--we're stuck with that now, and the rent jumped more than we hoped on this last renewal but we're still very pleased to be here and highly recommend Beacon Commons, a great place to live.
My experience renting from Walnut Capital has been positive. I am renting in Squirrel Hill and the apartment has been nice and I have really enjoyed the location. There have been a few maintenance issues but they take care of them quickly and a portal makes it easy to submit these maintenance requests.
I love living with Walnut Capital. Just resigned for my 3rd year. Maintence comes quickly & is kind / fixes any issue. They always answer the phone or let you stop by with any questions. I love Courtney & the whole maintenance team, thanks for your work to keep our home happy!
